Melissa's Story
Melissa first became interested in birthwork, natural healthcare, breastfeeding, and attachment parenting in 1998, following the birth of her first child. In 2012, Melissa completed the rigorous requirements to be registered as a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM). She has attended over 300 births in this capacity. In addition to providing regular prenatal care, homebirth services, postpartum and newborn care to healthy, low-risk clients, Melissa teaches childbirth education classes and offers breastfeeding support. Melissa is a preceptor with the North American Registry of Midwives, and has provided clinical education for midwifery students.
Melissa and her husband have six children and one grandchild. Melissa birthed all six of her children with the help of midwives and her husband; four were born at home. She breastfed her babies a cumulative total of 12 years.
Melissa is passionate about her relationship with Christ, and strives to prayerfully live out the teachings of the Bible. She has been active in the ministry of her church since 1999. Melissa also enjoys teaching and playing music, large family dinners, campfires, reading historical fiction, and spending time in nature.
